Luminocity: musical gala in the heart of Montreal
Montreal Symphony Orchestra pianist Olga Gross '80 accompanies renowned mezzo-soprano Annamaria Popescu '79 in a solo performance of "Habanera" from George Bizet's "Carmen."
Marianopolis extends a warm thank you to all alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students who joined the College on September 22 at the new home of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the city’s premier new concert venue in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles. The evening was a resounding success thanks to the contribution of the over 130 performers, 15 restauranteurs, generous sponsors and the over 600 guests in attendance.
The evening began at 5:30 p.m. with a welcome cocktail, followed by a musical program highlighting the concert hall’s outstanding acoustics. Matthew Lella '84, Associate at Diamond + Schmitt architects, provided a fascinating introduction to the features of the hall, and master of ceremonies Richard Dagenais '78 joined his former classmate James Gelfand for an impromptu memorable performance. Ticket-holders then discovered the spectacular new facilities at their own leisure before gathering in the Foyer Allegro atrium to enjoy a post-concert cocktail dînatoire. The evening’s proceeds benefited The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation’s scholarships and bursaries for students.
The College expresses sincere gratitude for the involvement and dedication of the over 30 committee members and volunteers who worked tirelessly to organize this evening.
